Vocabulary Research & Development
The Vocabulary Research & Development project focuses on researching, documenting and sharing ancient Bharatanatyam dance mudras to develop a yoga/mudra dictionary. Since we are documenting these ancient mudras, this knowledge goes well beyond ASL boundaries and serves the global Deaf community. To date we have successfully incorporated these sacred mudras during lectures, kirtan (chanting) and yoga classes. All peoples enjoy these mudras and participate in the kirtan when they are incorporated. However there is still much to learn and document as we begin to reveal this vocabulary and power within the world.
Fundraising Goal - $50,000 Project Deadline December 2008
Our Community Outreach program educates the Deaf community about Yoga, its healing properties, traditions and culture. We do this by offering asana (yoga) classes, lectures, workshops, teacher training courses, retreats, community events and multi-media yoga teachings; all rooted in traditional Yoga teachings and presented in ASL. Events offered to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and adults and all people that have a genuine interest.
We are already receiving more scholarship applications for our retreats and training courses than we are able to provide. Please help us to meet this growing demand by donating today.
Fundraising Goal - $35,000 Annual Needs
