first mainstreamed offering for the deaf community to become yoga teachers
The DeafYoga Foundation is excited to announce the first-ever Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) open to the Deaf & Signing Community. In collaboration with the International Sivananda Organization, we are making history by training four (4) Deaf yogins to become yoga certified Hatha yoga instructors.
The DeafYoga Foundation will be offering two TTC tuitional scholarships, provide interpreter travel and accommodations. Once you donate, you will receive our monthly newsletter and depending on the offering amount, you will be listed on our website as a contributor. Although we list donations more than $100, we deeply value and honor each of you who have made contributions of any amount. It is through your generosity that we are able to serve the Deaf community.
To date, more than 23,000 people worldwide, have become certified Sivananda Hatha Yoga teachers. This June,for the first time in the world, five Deaf people will be able to participate.
Scholarship & Interpreting Needs

* If you are a certified interpreter interested in sponsoring your time for this training course, please contact Lila. We are trying to cover over 200 hours of interpreting and are needing four (4) additional interpreters.

* We are in need of $4,600 for two (2) full scholarships. Each scholarship is $2,300. To date we have raised $2,500.

“I would like to offer some insights to educate Deaf people how to take things slowly in life. In the eyes of the Deaf people, we tend to be the 'last' people to receive news -- such as Yoga. Deaf people have mentioned how difficult it is to attend Yoga without interpreters or a signing instructor and they would not want to attend any Yoga activities because of that. I hope to join as a Deaf yoga teacher to improve the access of Yoga in the Deaf community and aid in the growing of Deaf yoga instructors."
