Every June, the Sivananda Yoga Ranch joins forces with DeafYoga Foundation to offer Sign Language interpretation and ASL-fluent veteran teachers for their Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC). Volunteers from all over the U.S. come together for this month-long certification course. This journey is one that requires dedication and commitment to your spiritual evolution. It is a time of Self-discovery, introspection, study and practice.

For one month you will live the traditional yogic lifestyle - early to wake, daily meditations, daily yoga classes, philosophy & scripture study, organic vegetarian diet and so much more.

As a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student of the course, your experience is heightened by the signing community members whose presence is there each year. For example, previous Deaf graduates volunteer during the month as a way to reconnect to the teachings and support current participants. Volunteer interpreters and students work as a collective to transmit these spiritual & philosophical concepts into ASL. It is a work in progress - a living, breathing energy of its own. Each year and each group is completely different. It is more than a training course... it is an experience.

Course Intention and Vision

How It Works

This mainstreamed Yoga TTC will provide qualified interpreters for you during the entire course. You will have interpreters during:
•Meditations & Yoga Classes
•Main Philosophy Lectures
•Meal Time and Social Hours
•Massage, Ayurvedic Consultation, Astrology Appointments (optional offerings)

Lila Lolling, our founder, is an interpreter and yoga teacher during the course. She teams with interpreters on concept translation and acts as an assistant teacher / tutor, to more easily facilitate the teachings. During Satsang, Lila integrates sacred Bharata Natyam mudras (ancient Indian dance mudras) during chanting, creating a more inclusive experience for Deaf yogins.
